Grace For Today

I heard someone say once, “Well if you’re not living like a Christian then may be you were never really saved.”  This statement seems to be a popular phrase that Christians and pastors like to use.  While I used to hold this view I realized that it did not match up to what the bible said.  The problem with the statement is that it makes Christians become judges of everyone else and not themselves.

Yes, Jesus did say in Matthew 7 that we should judge.  However, the Lord went on to say why do you judge your neighbor’s speck in their eye when you have a plank in your own.  The point is simply to take a personal inventory of your life and make the appropriate changes.

I find it ironic when people make that statement of, “Well if you’re not living like a Christian then may be you were never really saved,” because we are all saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8,9).  The heart of that statement is someone wanting proof that someone else is a believer.  God knows who is and who is not.  Salvation is not based on how good I can be or how much fruit I produce.  It is based on what He did on the cross.  Romans 4:4 says it all, “Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.”

It may be hard for people to understand Grace because we have so few people showing.
